Global Hotspots Through Foreign Film
Seeing is believing, and foreign films give us the experience of traveling beyond borders without a plane ticket. The journey begins with the screening of eight award-winning foreign films that examine global hotspots in conflict. Through films, including Love in the Time of Cholera, Jojo Rabbit, The Other Son, Lion, Philomena, Not One Less, About Elly, and Mother, you will visit Colombia, Australia, Iran, China, and other countries. These powerful films serve as a catalyst for our post-screening discussions about present-day issues in the associated geopolitical regions and how they reflect different cultures and global issues. For the final session, the class may be invited for a private screening of the South Korean film, Mother, at the United Nations and a visit to South Korea’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
