Seasoned communicators will learn to design, pilot, and govern AI-driven pipelines from first draft to final deliverable. Each session threads together communication work, such as research, writing, and distribution, complementary AI models, and advanced AI workflows — without losing editorial control.
You’ll practice delegating specific tasks to custom-designed agents, while maintaining a change log that clarifies where human judgment entered the process.
In parallel, we'll also develop ethics frameworks and pressure-test material to ensure it is ready for publication. By the end of the course, you’ll have a defensible, end-to-end human-AI collaborative workflow — complete with prompt libraries and AI work routines — that can be dropped into a newsroom, marketing team, or communications department tomorrow.
Before the start of the course, students are expected to be comfortable using a range of web-based and desktop software, such as Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail, Zoom, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Students are also expected to be comfortable using popular AI models, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, as well as agentic niche models like Manus, to carry out specific communication goals.
Additionally, you will need to learn and navigate Brightspace, NYU’s learning management platform, making everyday computer literacy skills a must for success in this course.
This single course fulfills the requirements for the Advanced AI and Communications: Workflows, Automation, and Ethics (Accelerated) Certificate.
