The Introduction to Affordable Housing course is open to all students and does not have any requirements or prerequisites. However, the final five courses have prerequisites.
The first 3 courses are designed to be taken in sequential order: Introduction to Affordable Housing, Financing Affordable Housing, and Development Process in Affordable Housing. After completing the first 3 courses, the remaining courses can be completed in any order.
You must complete the first three courses in sequential order: (1) REDV1-CE1001/Introduction to Affordable Housing, (2) REDV1-CE1002/Financing Affordable Housing, and (3) REDV1-CE1003/Development Process in Affordable Housing. Once you complete courses one, two, and three, you can take the remaining three courses in any order.
This certificate program will focus on and use NYC programs as examples when discussing affordable housing. NYC programs are recognized as the leader in providing innovative incentives and are often copied throughout the country and even abroad.
You must complete all six courses to earn the certificate. You never know what new information you might learn.

It’s preferable if you do, but you can still declare candidacy even after taking a course. Declaring candidacy does not commit you to completing it, but you will receive a 10% discount on future NYU SPS continuing education courses.
Assuming the course is part of the certificate, yes, but only if the course was taken within an acceptable time frame. The academic department gives students a specific amount of time to complete a certificate. The start date would be adjusted to the first class to which we applied the discount.
Yes, if a student declares candidacy for a certificate and achieves an average overall grade of B or higher in courses counting toward the certificate, they will be awarded a certificate badge upon completion, which will be shareable on their resume and LinkedIn profile.
No, continuing education courses and certificates do not qualify for financial aid.
Most continuing education programs do not count as credit toward a degree.
