Communicate Like an American II: Humor

This course is for nonnative English speakers who are interested in learning how to communicate like an American. The unique focus here is on American humor: what it is, how to use it, how to feel comfortable with it. Areas to be covered include types of humor, use and creation of puns, the role of emphasis and rhyme, visual humor, metaphors, and a variety of other techniques, including everyday expressions and body language. Students learn to create their own humor, to observe it in the world around them, and to enjoy it in real-life situations. This course requires active participation, both in and outside of class.
