Introduction to Podcasting and Radio Reporting
Do you want to create a podcast or work in radio? This beginner’s workshop teaches you everything you need to get started. You’ll learn the fundamentals of audio recording and editing. We cover the industry’s history and how it makes money. And the course teaches you how to write and interview for the ear. Then, you’ll put all the skills together by producing your own radio story (like you might hear on NPR) or a mini podcast in the style of your choosing.
Registering at least three weeks prior to the course start date is highly recommended.
Subject to availability, students become eligible to receive a 50% discount on Riverside.fm for remote interview recordings, and a 3-month free trial of Hindenburg editing software upon successful completion of this course. These offers are granted at the sole discretion of each vendor. NYU is not responsible if the terms of the offers change or are discontinued. Registered students should consult with the course instructor for details.
This course may be used to fulfill the requirements of the
Certificate in Journalism
and the
Certificate in Storytelling.
It may be taken to pursue these certificates, or as a standalone course. Questions? Contact us at The Center for Publishing and Applied Liberal Arts (PALA). Email sps.pala.ce@nyu.edu or call 212-998-7289.
