Calling All Sports PR Pros: Public Relations and Strategic Communications for Sports

Public relations (PR) is one of the most misunderstood disciplines in all of sports, but it also can be one of the most powerful. Sports leagues, teams, athletes, agencies, sponsors, broadcasters, and a host of other critical stakeholders lean on PR professionals every day. PR pros must be able to prescribe the right communications tools and tactics for each situation, simplify complex concepts that help to win the hearts of fans and consumers, neutralize burgeoning crises, and demonstrate how decisions are going to play out in the court of public opinion—all while skillfully navigating an evolving, 24/7 media landscape. This course will examine the art and science of devising strategic communications plans that help to bring a sports or sports-related organization together around centralized objectives. Guest speakers of the industry will be invited.
