Writing About Your Life Through Memoir, Essays, and Articles
Whether you are writing your life story, exploring a lifelong passion, or expanding your writing skills, this eight-week online course offers strategies, tips, and tricks on how to relaunch your creativity, develop your craft, and mine your personal life for ideas. You will learn how to write in a way that will get you and your story noticed, help you get an editor or agent's attention, and find out who those gatekeepers are. The course will also cover: how to get rid of writer’s block, the art of writing micro memoir as a portal into your memoir, creating a compelling story arc, pitching and breaking into online and print publications, locating research and interviewing experts for your essay, reported essay or book. Lastly, you will also gain insight and advice from editors and agents who deal with the midlife and beyond market. Whether you are a lifelong journaling aficionado, blogger, or just want to develop new skills, you will leave this class with one ready-to-publish personal essay, the first few pages of your memoir, or an essay or reported essay.
Registering at least three weeks prior to the course start date is highly recommended.
