From northern Scotland with its spectacular scenery to the South of France, this course traces the royal path of a much-traveled monarch who so often recorded her travel impressions in letters and diaries. Learn about Queen Victoria’s journeys and stays at her favorite haunts including the Isle of Wight and Balmoral Castle. The course will reveal her opinions about the historic cities she visited including Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Paris as well as the country houses in England, Scotland and Ireland, where she stayed. Explore famous residences  such as Haddo House in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where memorabilia of her visits still remain, and how owners refurbished their grand houses to accommodate their royal guest. You will also learn about the strict and unique protocols that had to be followed during her visits to France and Germany.
