In the two foundational courses, fine-tune your F&B idea by becoming more knowledgeable about product creation, consumer identification, and retail. Also, become familiar with the stringent standards to which F&B products are upheld, related to recipe, packaging, and sourcing, among others. Then, choose at least two of the four electives, which will round out your specialty skills. Elective courses cover the business side of the operation; marketing and consumer experience; product packaging and protection; and distribution, markets, and retail. In the capstone, the final course for the Certificate, create a mission statement and prepare a business plan for your own personal food and beverage product or service, to present to the class.
