Advanced Television Writing
This intensive course is designed for students who already have a working knowledge of writing for television and are ready to advance their work from competent to potential smash hit. Run like a working writers’ room, this collaborative workshop encourages you either to rewrite an old script or to write an entirely new one. Feedback from peers and the instructor, who is an established television writer, will focus on creating deeper and more specific characters, editing scenes for clarity and point of view, and honing tone and themes. By the end of the semester, you will have completed a script. You also will be guided through preparation of a five-minute pitch of your original idea for a new television series. This course may be used to fulfill the requirements of the Certificate in Television and Screenwriting.
