NYU SPS shortlisted for "Outstanding Educational Program" from PR Week

The School of Professional Studies’ MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication has been shortlisted for the prestigious PR Week Award for "Outstanding Educational Program".

This award recognizes the achievements and innovations of graduate and undergraduate PR programs in curriculum, faculty, enrollment, impact on the industry, and placement success; with special attention paid to the program’s effectiveness in preparing students for long-term success.

The MS in PR and Corporate Communication at NYU’s School of Professional Studies currently serves around 250 students, including students from 20 countries outside the U.S., and draws on a faculty of over 50 leading industry experts and practitioners – current and former senior executives at communications agencies like Weber Shandwick, Ogilvy PR, Publicis/MSL, brands like Johnson & Johnson, Philips, Citi Group, Pfizer, Viacom, and Prudential, and public institutions like the United Nations and the NYC Mayor’s Office.

Michael Diamond, Academic Director of the School’s Integrated Marketing and Communications department commented that: "we could not be more delighted that the contribution of our students, our faculty, and the companies with which we work, have been recognized in this way. We stand in good company with the other programs honored."

NYU has deep roots in the media and marketing world of New York, through many of its schools and programs. Shelley Spector, an adjunct faculty member at NYU SPS, who runs the PR Museum in New York noted that "NYU was the first university in the United States to offer a program in 'Public Relations' when Ed Bernays, known as the 'Father of PR' first taught a course there in 1923."

PRWeek which launched over 30 years ago is the essential title for PR professionals in the US, with breaking news, analysis and opinion, served across a number of media: online, print, podcast; and represented through major industry awards.  The final PR Week Awards ceremony will take place at a gala dinner in New York on March 10, 2020.
