Adult Learners

If you are an adult or someone who did not pursue a college degree directly after high school, and you are interested in completing your degree, the NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies can make that dream a reality.

Going Back to School on Your Own Terms

Many people do not take the traditional path of immediately earning their college degree after high school. Some begin their studies but stop out due to family or work obligations, or financial concerns. If this sounds like you, the NYU Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies can help you to achieve your academic and career goals. We welcome those pursuing adult education and provide the resources and support you need to earn your degree in the way that works best given your specific circumstances.

Attend Our Instant Decision Day!

During the event, you will have the opportunity to meet with Admissions Officers to discuss your application and connect with an academic advisor who can provide guidance on transfer credits. Students with complete applications will receive a decision.

Achieve - Awarding Achievement, Ensuring Success

The NYU School of Professional Studies is proud to introduce the Achieve Scholarship, beginning in Fall 2022. Each year, 20 high-achieving applicants to bachelor's degree programs of the NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) will be awarded a $30,000 scholarship package in addition to other financial aid. Achieve Scholarship applicants must have completed their associate degree or the equivalent number of transferable credits prior to enrolling at NYU SPS, have a FAFSA on file for the upcoming academic year, and enroll full-time while at NYU SPS. Apply as soon as possible for priority consideration!

Our undergraduate degree completion programs focus on developing the skills and knowledge that are most important to you. Classes are scheduled to meet the needs of adults who are juggling home and work responsibilities. Academic programs afford immediately applicable skills that can be applied on the job. Stimulating course content is complemented by career development services, tutoring, and faculty mentorship.

Kody Christiansen ‘20

Kody Christiansen has overcome more obstacles than most. At one time homeless and drug dependent, he vowed to change his life and earn his degree. While older than traditional college students, Kody found a home at the NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS). As a student in the AA in Liberal Arts, he enhanced his writing skills, developed his critical thinking abilities, and explored a wide range of social issues. Not only did he thrive in our classrooms, he became the president of the Undergraduate Student Council and immersed himself in a wide range of NYU SPS organizations and activities. Today, this award-winning author, professional actor, and aspiring artist is attending Harvard University, where he is continuing his exploration of the liberal arts. The education he received at DAUS gave him the confidence and the credentials to rise above adversity and pursue his dreams.
