Dr. Elizabeth Lowe Honored with 2018 NYUSPS Teaching Excellence Award

Dr. Elizabeth Lowe, Adjunct Professor in the MS in Translation, was honored with 2018 NYUSPS Teaching Excellence Award for an outstanding record of teaching quality and innovation, including outstanding use of technology in the classroom and skill in online teaching. Students describe her translation classes as challenging and inspirational. As one writes, "Dr. Lowe's passion towards the material she is teaching is undeniable, and it made the entire course enjoyable. I am so glad I was exposed to her as a professor and to the contents of this course in my first semester, as I feel what I learned will establish a groundwork for all future courses."

Elizabeth plays an important role for students nearing completion of the program as well: she been a thesis adviser to four students and a thesis reviewer for an additional five. She also brings her rich experience as an educator and as Founding Director of the Center for Translation Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to bear in peer observations of other faculty members. Her dedication, enthusiasm, collaborative spirit, and commitment to translation pedagogy are a constructive influence on everyone who works with her. She models professionalism and career success for those studying translation at NYUSPS.
