I feel like you don't necessarily know who you are until you've put your foot out into the world. I've grown while being part of the NYU community—I'm on the STEP team, I participate in the chess club and slam poetry, I’m a dean scholar, and I’ve spoken at school events and on information panels. I didn't think that this type of experience could happen for me, but I was able to attend with a scholarship. After I get my associate degree, I'm going to stay for my bachelor's.
- Latavia, AA in Liberal Arts ‘26
NYU was the turning point in my life. I always felt valued as an athlete, until I came to New York and was recognized for being more than that. Feeling that support, on and off the football field, really allowed me to take a step forward to shift into the business world.
Being embedded within a community of go-getters has been eye-opening. Even though not everything went perfectly as planned, this experience has taught me lessons I would have never had otherwise and prepared me for a lot more.
- Loris, BS in Leadership and Management
The Community College Transfer Opportunity Program (CCTOP) is what led me to NYU SPS. It was an opportunity that I had no idea even existed—I didn't know that there was a chance for a community college student to come to a school like NYU. It changed the trajectory of my educational path and the way I looked at academia and education. I realized that I, too, was able to do this.
- April, BA in Social Sciences ‘22
I built a solid career over the last 20 years, despite initially dropping out of film school, but I felt like going back to school was a good way to tap into what the next generation is doing. At NYU, I felt like I fit right in. DAUS made it possible for me to pursue my degree while working full-time at Audible, and NYU SPS helped me further establish my credibility.
- Jermaine, BA in Social Sciences ‘26
Transferring to NYU was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I went to NYU SPS because it allowed me flexibility: I was working during the day, but I was able to go to class at night—that was a really big benefit for me.
The professors at NYU SPS are real world industry leaders, who come straight from their nine to fives to the classroom. I had instructors that would literally jump on a plane to support me.
- Emily, BS in Leadership and Management ‘20
I've always known that I wanted to go back to school, but obviously life ‘lifed’. I work full-time as a healthcare administrator, and I’m a mom. I decided to go back to school to set an example for my children; I figured, ‘I'm almost done. I'm halfway there, so maybe I could take this time to finish what I started.’ Being a mom, working, and getting my bachelor’s degree at NYU definitely reminds me that I am capable of more than I give myself credit for.

A bachelor’s degree is an undergraduate college degree that typically takes students four years to complete. Students take classes in various subjects and gain in-depth knowledge and skills in a chosen field. It provides a solid foundation, often serving as a pathway to graduate studies or a professional career, and is the most commonly awarded university degree in the U.S.
Online bachelor's degree programs are available in a variety of fields, allowing students to pursue bachelor's degree programs in areas that match their interests and career goals.
An NYU SPS bachelor’s program is an undergraduate program designed to prepare students for advanced roles in their chosen fields through a blend of academic rigor and the development of practical, industry-relevant skills.
Choosing between an associate degree and a bachelor's degree depends on your career goals, financial situation, and how much time you’re willing to invest in your education. While an associate degree takes less time and costs less than a bachelor’s degree, a bachelor’s degree can lead to more career opportunities and higher earning potential. Students may choose to start with an associate degree to earn a credential valued by employers and then continue their education by transferring into a bachelor’s degree program. At NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies, associate degree graduates are automatically accepted into the related Bachelor’s degree without having to reapply or risk losing any credits previously earned.
