Associate of Applied Science in Business

A business associate degree at DAUS is an interdisciplinary business administration program that introduces the social sciences and humanities as well as providing the foundational courses in a traditional business degree, such as accounting, finance, and marketing.

The benefits of earning an AAS in business can include increasing your earning potential, gaining greater job security, having additional career options, access to a bachelor's degree, and/or advancing in your current career.

Our associate degree programs provide you with requisite skills to enter the entry-level business positions or can be used to move onto a four year bachelor's degree program.

An associate of arts (AA) focuses on a liberal arts-based general education, while an associate of applied science (AAS) hones in on business and science.

At NYU SPS, starting with an associate degree from NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) gets you halfway to a DAUS bachelor’s degree at a reduced cost. If you are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant or New York State TAP, you may be able to complete the associate degree with no out-of-pocket tuition cost. You will gain career momentum from the associate credential, which you can put to work right away. 
 

Progress automatically, without reapplying or losing credits, into a DAUS bachelor’s degree. With or without additional financial aid for the bachelor’s program, you will earn the most affordable NYU bachelor’s degree. Also, DAUS associate degrees are designed for seamless transition into bachelor’s degree.

NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies offers flexibility to meet the varied needs of its undergraduate students. Attend full or part-time; online or onsite.  Associate degree students can transfer up to 30 credits from prior college transcripts, helping you complete our program efficiently.

Specializations use a specific series of electives to develop deeper expertise in a particular area of study. 

Specializations include 1. Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 2. Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations, 3. Accounting and Finance, 4. International Business and Global Management, 5. Organizational Behavior and Development. Each set of courses is aligned to the skills employers look for in that area of study. 

You do not have to complete a specialization.  You may prefer to tailor your learning to your own needs and take some electives from different specializations based on your interests, career goals, prior course experience and discussions with your adviser-without completing a particular specialization.

DAUS is a division of NYU SPS that is specifically dedicated to undergraduates who are following a variety of pathways to and through college.  Many students transfer to DAUS from other higher education institutions; others come here after leaving college without completing a degree. Others with no college credit yet start with DAUS in the spring semester of a college term. We offer full- and part-time schedules; online, onsite and hybrid course-taking options. And we provide a full range of professional advising, career guidance and other support to help you succeed on your academic journey.

NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies accepts up to 30 transfer credits from students transferring into our Associate degrees. We have designed our curriculum to allow you flexibility to take the remaining courses to finish your degree with the skills you most want and need. When you finish an Associate degree at DAUS you may automatically proceed to one of our related Bachelor’s degrees without reapplying or losing credits.

Applicants to our Associate and Bachelor's degrees must have completed some college credit in order to apply to the summer or fall semesters. Applicants who have not completed any college coursework may apply to the spring semester. Learn more about the admission process and requirements.

NYU SPS offers special pricing for its associate degrees that make them comparable to public community colleges in New York. If you are eligible for Pell or TAP, your tuition could be low or no cost. Generous financial aid and scholarships are available for those who qualify and seamless credit transfer can help you to earn your degree faster, reducing cost and time to a degree.

Our admissions process does not require any admissions tests. Submit your High School diploma or GED, a resume and transcripts and focus essays and recommendations on your passion and potential as we prioritize a holistic review of your application.

To qualify for guaranteed admission, associate degree in business candidates must have maintained a 2.8 GPA in high school and meet one of the following criteria:

• NYC public school graduate

• United States active service member or veteran

Yes: NYU associate degrees are comparably priced to community colleges, and if you are eligible for Federal Pell grants or New York State TAP and start in the spring semester, NYU SPS will make up any difference between tuition and your government aid. You will complete the associate degree at no out-of-pocket tuition cost and be halfway done with an NYU SPS DAUS bachelor’s degree. Continue automatically into the DAUS bachelor’s degree without reapplying or losing credits.
