Co-and Extracurricular Activities

Student Workshops

Student workshops are an integral part of the extracurricular activities offered by Schack, and students should plan to participate during their time at Schack. The workshop program includes a number of different events throughout the year. These events cover topics across real estate and are important opportunities. Through these workshops, students develop their skills and make industry connections. Current topics include:

  • Real Estate Financial Modeling with Excel

  • Argus Software Certification Training

  • Bloomberg Terminal Certification Training

  • Construction Cost Estimating in Real Estate Development

Real Estate Institute Student Association (REISA)

Through REISA, students have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of Schack programming. REISA subcommittees include Women’s Real Estate Society and the Innovation and Technology subcommittee. These important groups develop Schack’s programming, from happy hours to meeting with industry leaders. Additionally, the REISA group has regular meetings with Dean Chandan to share ideas for new programming and networking

Executive-in-Residence (EiR) Series

The Executive-in-Residence Series (EiR) provides a unique opportunity for Schack Institute of Real Estate students to meet seasoned executives from a variety of real estate companies in an informal and private setting. These live or remote sessions are opportunities for students to chat with an industry leader for one-on-one and small group meetings with students. The program has been an overwhelming success with its focus on forging connections between students and professionals in the field. Executives that have joined us in past semesters come from companies including Newmark, Knight, and Frank, Cushman & Wakefield, PGIM, JLL, RXR Realty, Angelo Gordon, Monmouth Realty, CBRE, BentallGreenOak, and Brookfield.

Alumni-in-Residence (AiR) Series

Building on the success of the Executive-in-Residence program and as part of our ongoing efforts to grow students' opportunities to engage directly with alumni, we are pleased to have launched the Alumni-in-Residence (AiR) program. Like EiR, AiR offers students the opportunity to meet with alumni for informal, small-group discussions on topics such as their career trajectories and views on the market. The alumni participating in the program work at a broad range of real estate, construction, and development firms; some are senior executives in the industry, others are recent alumni already making their mark. One on one and live sessions will be available for the fall semester for both the Executive-in-Residence and Alumni-in Residence programs.
