Co-and Extracurricular Activities

Student Workshops

Student workshops are an integral part of the extracurricular activities offered by Schack, and students should plan to participate during their time at Schack. The workshop program includes a number of different events throughout the year. These events cover topics across real estate and are important opportunities. Through these workshops, students develop their skills and make industry connections. Current topics include:

  • Real Estate Financial Modeling with Excel

  • Argus Software Certification Training

  • Bloomberg Terminal Certification Training

  • Construction Cost Estimating in Real Estate Development

Real Estate Institute Student Association (REISA)

Through REISA, students have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of Schack programming. REISA subcommittees include Women’s Real Estate Society and the Innovation and Technology subcommittee. These important groups develop Schack’s programming, from happy hours to meeting with industry leaders. Additionally, the REISA group has regular meetings with Dean Chandan to share ideas for new programming and networking

Executive-in-Residence (EiR) Series

Schack’s Executive-in-Residence (EiR) series brings members of the Schack Institute Advisor Board and other industry leaders to campus for one-on-one and small group meetings with students. The program, introduced during the 2016-2017 academic year, has been an overwhelming success with its focus on forging connections between students and professionals in the field.

Executives typically spend half a day at Schack. They participate in a small group lunch and an informal one-on-one chats with a group of students. The slate of executives joining us for the Spring 2019 semester come from companies including Newmark, Knight, and Frank, Cushman & Wakefield, PGIM, JLL, RXR Realty, Angelo Gordon, Monmouth Realty, and Lela Goren Group.
