Division of Programs in Business Announces Dr. Andres Fortino as Clinical Faculty, Management & Systems

The NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business (DPB) is pleased to announce that Dr. Andres Fortino has been selected as the Management & Systems (MASY) Clinical Faculty. Dr. Fortino has an impressive portfolio of achievements and will bring a significant amount of expertise and experience to the position, having taught at SPS for the last seven years. His contributions to the program and the division have been several and his deep commitment and dedication to both DPB and SPS are evident in his outstanding teaching and service records. We are looking forward to Andres continuing his role as the MASY Academic Communities of Practice leader and building a solid research agenda for Management and Technology related topics.

Dr. Fortino is currently Chief Learning Officer of Autonomous Professional Development (APD) and is responsible for research and development of new educational initiatives. Earlier in his career, Dr. Fortino held numerous senior level management and leadership positions in higher education, including: (1) College Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs, DeVry College of New York, (2) Associate Provost NYU Tandon School of Engineering; (3) Dean of the School of Management, Marist College, where he created many educational programs including a new Masters in Technology Management degree; (4) Associate Dean and MBA Program Director, School of Management, George Mason University, where he created and led many graduate programs. He was a founding member of CIO University, an initiative of the CIO Council of the US Government to educate future U.S. CIOs. He designed and directed a Master of Science in Technology Management program at GMU focused on education of CIOs.

Dr. Fortino has a Ph.D. in Computer/Electrical Engineering from the City University of New York. For his thesis he developed the first multidimensional numerical model to solve Maxwell’s equations for electron and hole flow in semiconductors. Dr. Fortino is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the Academy of Management, Management and Education and Development division. He has published eight books and has over 40 scholarly publications and has made over 80 technical presentations.
