During March Professor Jennifer Trahan spoke on war crimes and/or the crime of aggression in Ukraine on 8 panels, as well as TV and radio. She also spoke on several additional panels, was responsible for the issuance of statements on the crime of aggression by the Global Institute for the Prevention of Aggression, and had a peer-reviewed article published.
Specifically, on March 3, she was featured on BBC radio; on March 6, she was on television on TRT world (view here), and on March 31 she spoke again on radio. She was featured on panels on March 4 with the Public International Law and Policy Group; on March 9 with City College of New York; on March 16 with the International Bar Association; on March 18 at Westminster Law School (UK); on March 24 on a panel at the Graduate Institute Geneva (Switzerland); and on March 31, on a panel at Paris Arbitration Week (France), a panel hosted by the Azure Forum International Security Dialogues 2020 Irish Rule of Law International (Ireland), and one at NYU Center for Global Affairs.
She was also interviewed by a Research Institute in Budapest Hungary, and her interview "The Veto Should Not Sanction the Violation of the Law" can be found here.
She additionally spoke about her forthcoming chapter “Contributing to Cyber Peace by Maximizing the Potential for Deterrence” in the forthcoming book "Cyber Peace: Charting a Path Toward a Sustainable, Stable, and Secure Cyber Space," at a March 9 remote book launch event hosted by Indiana University. On March 12, she spoke on a Roundtable on UN Reform hosted by Jindal Global Law School (India), and on March 24 spoke on Security Council veto power and its limits at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University (Lithuania).
Under Professor Trahan's leadership, the Global Institute for the Prevention of Aggression issued two statements: Statement of the Global Institute for the Prevention of Aggression on the Situation in Ukraine and Statement of Members of the Council of Advisors on Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine urging States Parties to the Rome Statute to amend the crime of aggression’s jurisdictional regime. And, Professor Trahan's article “Veto Use and the UN Charter Obligation to Act in Accordance with the ‘Purposes and Principles’ of the United Nations,” was published by the Journal on the Use of Force and International Law.
