McKenna Schray, Ph.D., APR, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Public Relations within the Division of
Programs in Business at the NYU School of Professional Studies. Prior to joining NYU, McKenna served as
an Instructor of Public Relations at Seton Hall University. She taught public relations and communication
courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.


She previously served as an Adjunct Instructor at Caldwell University and Seton Hall University. Prior to
her teaching career, she was an Associate Director for the College of Communication and the Arts and a
Graduate Assistant for the Office of Media Relations at Seton Hall University. Her early career includes
professional experiences at Shoba, Scholastic, Coyne PR, MTV, and Comedy Central. Her research
interests include public relations education, social media, corporate communication, reputation
management, and Catholic higher education.


She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership, Management and Policy, a M.A. in Public Relations,
and a B.A. in Public Relations and Journalism with a minor in Legal Studies in Business from Seton Hall
University. In 2021, she earned her Accreditation in Public Relations and was named a Seton Hall
University Teaching Fellow. In 2019, she earned a Regional Conference Grant from the Lilly Fellows
Program in Humanities and the Arts. The New Jersey Public Relations Society of America awarded her a
Pyramid Award for Media Relations in 2016 and named her Future Public Relations Professional of the
Year in 2014.
