Meet the Leaders Who Will Guide Your NYU SPS Journey
A Message from Dean Kamath
January 2026
Dear NYU SPS Community,
To our students, faculty, and staff, both new and returning this spring, I'm excited to welcome you to a new term.
Over the course of the semester, I’m looking forward to using this space to share a highlight of recent updates on our NYU SPS Pathways, all the ways we're showing up and making an impact in the classroom and out in the world, and how you can help us build a strong, growing, and global community.
Curriculum
Next Level Collaborations: At NYU SPS, experiential learning is at the heart of what we do across programs. So it has been so inspiring to see the Division of Programs in Business bring such a rigorous and creative approach to their degree adjacent programs - thinkathons, challenges, and skill builds - with organizations from Salesforce and NASA to Amazon, Google, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I can't wait to see what's next.
Student Success
Career Focused, Career Ready: The Workplace Learning Innovation Lab has recently launched Career Compass. This online, project-based initiative empowers Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) students to create a portfolio of applied work addressing real-world challenges from DAUS partners and prominent industry leaders - very inspiring to see!
Storytelling
Next Chapters: Congratulations to everyone involved in this year's Advanced Publishing Institute. Hearing Malcolm Gladwell reflect on storytelling across books, audio, and podcasts was a powerful reminder of how industry-connected learning keeps ideas relevant, emotional, and impactful across formats. These types of industry-forward programs are the embodiment of the NYU SPS story in action, and I look forward to sharing more innovative ways we will continue to tell our collective story in the coming months.
Culture
Flourishing and Fostering: How do we build the NYU SPS experience? That's something I think about every day, from conversations with students to the work I do with faculty, staff, partners, and alumni. At the SPS State of the School in March, I will be sharing the culture survey results from the fall semester. Thank you to all who participated in helping shape our community of culture. For me, it comes down to two words - flourishing and fostering - creating an environment where each of us can flourish and fostering the big and small ways we can work together.
It also means celebrating recent achievements:
- Congratulations to SPS alum Zach Schofel (Schack '21), co-founder of Cosign, who has been named to the Forbes 2026 "30 Under 30" list for Social Impact.
- Immanuel Wilkins, DAUS adjunct faculty member, has been nominated for three Grammy Awards for his outstanding work as a composer, bandleader, and performer.
- SPS alumna KeiSam (Ashley) Choi (Tisch Sports '20), is among a distinguished group of NYU students and alumni selected for one of the world's most competitive global leadership programs, with details to be shared following the official announcement later this month.
Thank you for being part of our community and for your ongoing support.
Warmly,
Angie Kamath
