Demetria White
Demetria White is a communications and storytelling strategist who thrives on making unconventional connections between sports and culture. With roots in the luxury fashion industry, White has worked alongside such designers as Yohji Yamamoto, Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga, and John Galliano at Dior Couture.
She joined Nike in 2007 as part of a small team of provocateurs who developed and launched Nike Sportswear. Since then, White has held roles within Nike focused on challenging status-quo thinking to create new expressions of sport through content and product creation, external collaborations, and innovative experiences.
She has led industry-defining stories, such as Nike’s Victory Swim, a full-coverage swimwear line that provides greater access to sport, and a partnership with renowned publisher Phaidon to create Better Is Temporary, a behind-the-scenes exploration into Nike’s ethos-driven design formula. White is also committed to elevating Black culture.
In her role as VP of Global Communications and Purpose for Jordan Brand, she led a collaboration with legendary photographer Ming Smith to mark Jordan Brand’s largest active WNBA roster, and she helped guide Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand’s 10-year, $100 million Black Community Commitment giving strategy to promote social justice, narrative change, and education and awareness.
In 1999, Demetria White completed a Bachelor of Science in History at New York University. She is a lover of art, design, and music, and she will always call New York City home.
