Mei Kong is an Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Management at NYU School of Professional Studies, Division of Undergraduate Studies. She teaches Health Advocacy: Patient and Family Rights. Additionally, she teaches at the NYU High School Academy, offering courses in careers in medicine and other relevant subjects. Professor Kong’s expertise spans across academic and professional settings, with experience teaching nursing at the BSN level and MSN at the graduate level. She also developed and facilitated worksite interdisciplinary leadership, patient safety, and team programs, and managed the development and administration of various other programs and curricula.
Professor Kong is a committed transformational leader dedicated to teaching excellence and comprehensive student growth. She brings a performance-focused approach to clinical and administrative leadership, with a passion for cultivating future professionals dedicated to safe, high-quality, efficient, and holistic patient care.
Professor Kong was a former CNO, COO, & Patient Safety Officer for the nation's largest municipal health system, driving strategic growth through operational excellence, staff development, and patient-focused initiatives.
She was a national presenter specializing in healthcare topics such as patient safety, leadership, and nursing. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Gastroenterology Nursing, Clinical Simulation in Nursing, and Urban Medicine. Additionally, she contributed a chapter on medication errors to the 2nd edition of Patient Safety: A Case-Based Comprehensive Guide (2023).
Professor Kong was awarded the U.S. Army Dental Command Medal in Recognition and Excellence and Professionalism, U.S. Army Medical Command Medal in Recognition for Excellence and U.S. Army.
