Gary Gasgarth is a director, editor, and writer of feature films, commercials, documentaries and music videos. He is a member of the Writers Guild of America and a teacher of filmmaking at NYU SPS where he received the Award for Teaching Excellence. He is the former full-time Master Teacher and coordinator of Film Production. Gary Gasgarth has served as a judge for both the Emmy awards and the Association of Independent Commercial Producers awards. He has taught directing seminars at film festivals and for at-risk youth. His seminar “How to Talk to a Television Camera” was featured in New York magazine as one of the best seminars in the New York area. Gary directed WE ALL FALL DOWN: The American Mortgage Crisis which is distributed by Icarus Films and won a CINE Golden Eagle Award for independent documentary feature, a Chris Award and a Silver Telly Award. He has supervised the script development, pre-production, production and postproduction of hundreds of short documentary, narrative, and experimental films produced by NYU SPS Filmmaking Intensive students. Many of these films have been accepted into film festivals around the world.
