The Certificate in Project Management Fundamental Tools and Techniques is designed to provide students with the foundational knowledge needed to effectively manage projects. Organizations undertake projects to achieve strategic objectives, to meet the needs of their customers, and to keep their operations functioning smoothly. Successful project execution requires a mix of technical competencies and soft skills. Aligned with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), the curriculum provides students with opportunities to design, develop, and deliver project management artifacts and to prepare for managing real-world initiatives. In addition, the certificate satisfies the necessary educational requirements for completion of the PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam.
The Certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete the two required courses and two electives.

You control the pacing of this certificate. We offer three semesters a year (spring, summer, and fall), each with a variety of courses—often the same foundation courses with varying electives. While most students complete the certificate in one calendar year by taking one class per semester, some choose to take two courses per semester to finish faster. Ultimately, you can progress through the requirements at a pace that suits you best, with up to three years to complete the certificate.
All courses in this certificate program are offered online, allowing you the flexibility to learn from anywhere.
We offer a diverse selection of courses each semester, including both required courses and electives. Additionally, some courses have multiple sections available for registration each semester. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the availability of a specific course in any given semester due to factors such as faculty availability. However, our website will always display the most up-to-date information on course availability.
