Editing Articles and Essays to Submit for Publication

When it comes to editing your writing for publication, your construction needs to be tight. In this interactive workshop, instructor Estelle Erasmus will introduce the editing tips she uses to prepare pieces for submission to an editor or publication. Participants will learn quick ways to punch up personal essays and reported articles, from employing the power of transitional sentences, to finding your ideal rhythm, to “verbing” your work. This workshop will offer practical lessons on how to “kill your darlings” and tighten your word count, with time allotted for workshopping your ideas, applying concepts, and personalized feedback from the instructor.
