International Relations
Gain an in-depth understanding of the world order that emerged following the Cold War, and explore how that era continues to shape the geopolitical and economic landscapes of our contemporary world. Consider the principal theories and history of international relations, and analyze the key dimensions of Cold War politics—competing ideologies, threats, and challenges. Examine the critical events and policies from the Cold War to the War on Terror, including the legacy of colonialism; European Union enlargement and economic integration; nuclear proliferation; globalization; the emergence of new players on the economic scene; and “issues without borders,” such as climate change, human rights, trafficking, immigration, and global pandemics. Discuss the influence that key leaders, international organizations, civil society groups, and technology have in shaping the world as we know it today.
