Oscar Winners: Best Foreign Language Films

Oscar-winning foreign films represent the best cinema from around the world. They resonate with profound themes, exotic settings, brilliant acting, and creative directing. They allow us to travel beyond borders without a plane ticket and to learn while being entertained. This course will analyze how the winning foreign films reflect different cultures and universal themes. Films we will watch and discuss in class include:

2. The Secret in the Eyes (Argentina)

3.  Ida (Poland)

4. The Lives of Others (Germany)

5.  A Separation (Iran)

6. The Counterfeiters (Austria)
