
Cathryn Garrard
Adjunct InstructorCathy Garrard received a BA in English and a BS in journalism from the University of Kansas. She is a journalist with three decades of fact-checking, writing, and editing experience. She currently works as a content creation and certainty consultant, working for publications and companies such as Linkwell Health, Reader’s Digest, ZipRecruiter, MIT Technology Review, Everyday Health, and AAA. She previously served as a senior editor at Hearst Magazines and was the research director of Redbook and Woman’s Day magazines. She has also written and reported hundreds of articles on health, nutrition, travel, and entertainment for dozens of national outlets, both print and digital. Garrard teaches Fact-Checking for Accuracy and Media Literacy at NYUSPS in the Center for Publishing and Applied Liberal Arts.
