Avraam Koen

Adjunct Associate Professor

Avraam Koen was educated at Athens College. He received his B.A. at Brandeis University, and as a Humanities Fellow at the renowned Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago he received his M.A. and Ph.D. with distinction in philosophy and classics. As a Kent Fellow of the Danforth Foundation, he was a visiting lecturer in Paris at the Sorbonne, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes enSciences Sociales, and the C.N.R.S. Koen also taught at the American University of Paris, Brandeis University, and Bennington College. His book on Epicurus, Atoms, Pleasure, Virtue, is often on the reading lists of college and university courses on ancient philosophy. Koen teaches philosophy courses at NYUSPS in the Center for Applied Liberal Arts.
