Writing the Half-Hour TV Comedy

If you are interested in writing for a comedy television series, this course will take you from pitch to outline to completion of a half-hour “spec” script. In class, become immersed in the collaborative and interactive writers’ room process, and learn the standards of plot and scene structure, timing, dialogue, and character development. The course focuses on two currently running television shows, chosen by participants during the first class session, which are then closely studied and analyzed for style, tone, and structure. Write a script for one of the selected series, which also can be used as a professional TV writing sample.
