Digital Fundraising and Social Media

Case studies and new industry data probe how online and mobile technologies are changing the ways that donors give money and the ways that organizations raise it. Course topics include the integration of social media with digital engagement and fundraising; the use of video for engagement and fundraising; the role of dynamic and mobile-enabled websites; multichannel message development; the importance of leveraging crowdfunding and influencers to amplify reach and increase potential funds raised; and the use of mobile applications, SMS messaging, and mobile wallets for marketing and fundraising. Explore the organizational issues resulting from new technology, including cost-benefit challenges, proliferating databases and data, and privacy issues. Review web, social media, and mobile strategies, as well as organizational practices, through class discussion and primary and secondary research.

Note: Full participation in Digital Fundraising and Social Media is applicable for 20 points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.
