In this course, learn about these architectural rarities, their owners, and houses filled with unique treasures and rich furnishings. Explore long galleries, expansive dining rooms, awe-inspiring decorations, and discover why fashionable Renaissance detailing accompanied traditional English craft features. The course will explore renowned mansions throughout England including Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire and Montacute  (c. 1598) in Somerset; as well as those where Tudor originality is still much in evidence including The Vyne in Hampshire with its homage to Henry Vlll’s court and exquisite Charlecote in Warwickshire where Shakespeare allegedly poached game in the mansion’s park.
