Architecture of New York
Over the last 400 years, New York City has evolved from a minor outpost of the great global trading network of the Dutch Golden Age to the leading “global city” of the 21st century. Along the way, the city’s architecture has gone from the simplest of farmhouses to “supertall” skyscrapers. We will in this course survey the entire dizzying range of the city’s built environment from colonial days to the present.
