ABC Star and NYU Alum Ramón Rodríguez Shares Motivating Words with the Undergrad Class of ‘25
On Tuesday, May 13 Ramón Rodríguez, star of the popular ABC police procedural Will Trent, will deliver the keynote address to the NYU SPS Undergraduate Class of '25.
Born in Manhattan’s Lower East Side and growing up in both New York City and his native island of Puerto Rico, Rodríguez earned his undergraduate degree in sports marketing at NYU SPS before his rise to fame on the screen. "I was just coming off of studying and playing basketball at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia and was looking to study back in my home of NYC," says Rodríguez. "Sports marketing was something that intrigued me. Honestly, I also loved NYU’s basketball court and spent a lot of time there when I wasn’t in class, so I went for it."
"I knew being able to say I was an NYU graduate truly meant something. It was a great backup plan to pursue something in sports but I went all in with acting," says Rodríguez, whose series Will Trent was just renewed for a fourth season.
“Go all in 110% andI always try to learn from every experience,” he adds. Sage advice from an NYU grad whose illustrious resume ranges from critically acclaimed series like The Wire to blockbusters like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
