Chaithanya Bhati, 2024 Graduate Convocation Student Speaker, Sees Her NYU SPS Experience as a Launchpad for Career Aspirations

For this year’s Graduate Convocation student speaker, Chaithanya Bhati, her NYU SPS experience has been transformative, and she sees it as a launching pad for her career aspirations.

Hailing from Bangalore, India, Bhati, who is graduating with a Master of Science in Management and Systems with a focus in Systems Management from the NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business, is a seasoned technology product manager with a rich background spanning almost a decade in product development, operations, and finance. Working at industry giants Amazon, LinkedIn, and EY, among others, her professional career has included working on products and solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, educational technology, and business and consumer software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers.

“The NYU SPS program wasn’t just about theory,” said Bhati. “Expert professors shared real-world, industry-specific insights and practical skills.” She feels the learning experiences at NYU SPS will help her seamlessly integrate theoretical knowledge into real-world situations, giving her a distinct advantage in today’s competitive marketplace.

Bhati noted that Jimmy Pang’s Managing in a Global Economy, Amit Patel’s Database Design and Management, and Lawrence Mariano’s Strategic Management of Technological Innovation were a few of the courses that “not only enriched my academic experience but also equipped me with the tools to help me excel in my career.”

At the School, she also participated in the NYU SPS Metaverse Bootcamp, NYU Startup Bootcamp, and NYU Female Founders Program. “These immersive experiences ignited my passion for innovative solutions at the intersection of technology and human interaction and shaped my career aspirations to make a mark in the ever-evolving technology landscape,” said Bhati.

While earning her NYU SPS degree, she served on the Dean’s Advisory Board and as vice president of the Management & Systems Student Association. In addition, she was honored with the Rising Star at the NYU SPS Student Leader Awards.

After graduation, she is determined to continue as a technology product manager with aspirations to grow into an influential product leader who aims to help drive global innovation and shape impactful products.

Her message to her fellow 2024 graduates: “Remain resilient, seek out opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, stay adaptable in the face of challenges, and never underestimate the power of networking.”
