About the Book:

"Despite an expansive array of financial planning tools, advice, and gurus, putting real financial planning into practice is deeply personal―and incredibly difficult. More Than Money: Real-Life Stories of Financial Planning is a collection of surprising and inspiring true stories that reveal how real clients applied financial planning to derive tangible results that changed their lives. These stories by award-winning financial advisors feature people from all walks of life―young and old, those in debt and those with great wealth―and a wide variety of situations, from designing a desired lifestyle to dealing with catastrophe. They show how well-thought-out, personalized, and high-touch financial planning can truly impact lives for the better. These leaders in a growing industry remind us that financial planning is more than dollars and cents―it is about resourcing dreams and improving lives in the near-term and beyond. Financial planning is More Than Money."

About The Authors:

Matt Ricks, CFA, CFP, is the Founder of Haystack Financial Planning, a Registered Investment Advisory firm in New York. As a financial planner who serves the disabled community, he has found the perfect way to merge financial planning with a passion for serving others. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™️ professional and fiduciary that operates on a fee-only basis. He currently lives on Long Island with his wife and two sons. They enjoy pretending to be dinosaurs, shooting hoops, and having silly dance parties. When not spending time with family or running Haystack, you may find Matt walking one of the local golf courses, tapping a beat (he's a recovering drummer), searching for the perfect grilled cheese, or contemplating his next home improvement project.

Michael Kelly, CFA, CFP® is the founder and president of Switchback Financial, a fee-only financial planning firm based in Madison, CT. After a decade-long career in Treasury and Capital Management at some of the world's largest banks, Michael decided that helping bolster the bottom line of the big corporations was not providing happiness and meaning to his life and decided it was time for a change. Frustrated by seeing colleagues and friends struggle with the overly complex world of personal finance, he realized that a more purposeful path was to educate and guide peers through managing their hard-earned money.

Michael specifically focuses on helping young professionals/families with equity compensation deal with the investment management, tax planning, and behavioral complexities that stem from concentrated positions. His purpose is to empower individuals to make sound financial decisions based on their core values to live a balanced life - enjoying a fulfilling life today without sacrificing their future.

Simon A Tryzna, CFA, is a portfolio manager and financial advisor at Palo Alto Wealth Advisors. He is an expert in financial planning around concentrated equity positions and primarily works with clients with stock option equity compensation. A proud graduate of Saint Mary's College, he enjoys mentoring students, especially those interested in pursuing a career in the finance industry. He has a passion for breaking down complicated financial planning and investment ideas into easy-to-digest language to help as many as possible.

Simon was formerly the chief investment officer at ClearPath Capital Partners, where he was featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Investment News, and Kiplinger's. He enjoys collaborating with other advisors on educational pieces around investing and stock-option planning and writing about various financial planning and investment topics.
