Behind the Scenes in NYC: Preserving Historic Neighborhoods

New York is a city of landmark buildings. This municipally-protected architecture belongs to a broad spectrum, from the opulence of Grand Central Terminal to the former factories of Gowanus, Brooklyn. How does one preserve a building or city block and who decides? This talk will feature highlights from one of the courses in the Certificate in Historic Preservation Studies at the NYU School of Professional Studies and will include how to find a historic photograph of any building in NYC.
