NEW YORK, NY. – The NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Programs in Business, a global thought leader in workforce development and industry focused education, and HackerU, a cybersecurity education leader, are collaborating to launch an accelerated continuing education Cybersecurity training program. Geared towards learners of all backgrounds and skill sets, the NYU School of Professional Studies Cybersecurity Bootcamp will be held live, online during evenings and weekends, and will help to supply the New York metro area with qualified cybersecurity professionals to address a global shortage.

“The NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business is very excited about collaborating with HackerU in order to respond to the post-pandemic needs of the knowledge economy. The field of Cybersecurity offers an increasingly diverse number of career paths. As an innovator in technology education, we see this as an incredible opportunity to train the next generation of technology leaders in a space that offers well-paying jobs and excellent career prospects,” said Martin Ihrig, associate dean of the NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business.

As more organizations shift to digital models during an ongoing spike in cyber attacks, and require trained in-house security teams, organizations are eager to fill a wide range of roles including network security engineers, systems security managers, cybersecurity operations analysts, and network operations center technicians. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects a 32% uptick in cybersecurity-related job openings by 2028, and New York State alone currently has more than 23,000 open jobs requiring cybersecurity skills.

“With the continuous evolution of technology inevitably comes increased cybersecurity risk,” said Dan Vigdor, co-founder and executive chairman of HackerUSA. “We are proud to collaborate with the NYU School of Professional Studies to address the systemic threat to New York and Connecticut’s digital ecosystem, while simultaneously creating new opportunities for individuals to gain the skills they need to launch fulfilling and sustainable careers in one of the fastest-growing fields.”

The NYU School of Professional Studies Cybersecurity Bootcamp is led by experts who are currently active in the cybersecurity field. They offer real-world insight to participants through a series of online lectures, hands-on exercises, virtual labs, and immersive simulations.

Throughout the program of study, learners will gain proficiency in IT, networking, information security, and data analytics and forensics. They also will acquire the wide range of skills necessary to pass the industry’s most rigorous certification exams including: Linux LPI Essentials, Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and (ISC)2 SSCP. Upon program completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion in Cybersecurity from the NYU School of Professional Studies.

Program participants will have a unique advantage when entering the cyber workforce because of the in-depth career development support offered as part of the curriculum. Services such as résumé writing, LinkedIn profile building, interview preparation, virtual career fairs, and job placement assistance are some of the many tools offered to ensure learners are well-equipped to prosper in today’s job market.

“The NYU School of Professional Studies Cybersecurity Bootcamp aims to connect the dots and create opportunities, first and foremost, for students, but also for the organizations that will ultimately hire them,” said Ayal Stern, CEO of HackerUSA. “There’s a growing need for skilled cybersecurity professionals in New York and Connecticut, and the program curriculum is engineered to address today’s most pressing cybersecurity challenges, while teaching students to think outside of the box in order to solve tomorrow’s challenges as well. This future-first methodology is what really differentiates this bootcamp from other more traditional educational bootcamps.”
