NYU School of Professional Studies MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication Shortlisted for the "Outstanding Education Program" in the PR Week Awards for 2021

In an industry that has both experienced and driven profound change, NYU students are prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead

New York, NY—For the second consecutive year, the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYU SPS) Division of Programs in Business (DPB) MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication has been shortlisted for the "Outstanding Education Program" in the PR Week Awards. This prestigious industry award recognizes the achievement of a higher education academic program in the fields of public relations and communication. Judges for these awards—senior leaders from the agency, corporate, nonprofit, education, and government ranks—focus on curriculum innovation; quality and accomplishments of faculty members; proven impact on the industry; student enrollment; and professional placement success. Each program that competes also is considered on its effectiveness in preparing students for long-term success in these continuously evolving fields.

“We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment as it confirms, once again, that the MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication has been judged by our industry colleagues to be one of the top graduate programs in the country where students can enjoy a transformative educational experience, tied to applied professional practice in the classroom,” asserted Michael Diamond, academic director and clinical assistant professor, Integrated Marketing and Communications, NYU SPS. “Over the past decade, the environment in which professionals in the field operate has experienced incredible change with the influences of globalization and technology, and more recently the impact of the pandemic. The fields of PR and communications continue to lead the way in establishing a strong reputation and earning trust for the organizations and businesses they support. Our students have embraced the need for change, and seem energized by it. Across disciplines as broad as crisis communications, ethics and the law, social media. and PR writing and research, this program has maintained a competitive edge by serving students with a rigorous professional NYU education that prepares them for a career in public relations and corporate communications—fields that are rapidly transforming.”

The program affords a critical advantage to students who seek to immerse themselves in industry and to hit the ground running once they graduate. Because of its strategic location in New York City, the media capital of the world, the MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication provides students with the opportunity to learn from a diverse and global group of some of the top industry professionals. While providing a grounding in the more traditional sectors of the field, the curriculum also is infused with courses that build highly sought-after skills in branding, social media marketing, influencing, and the measurement of impact. It is designed to ask the hard questions and to explore trending topics such as disinformation and media manipulation by integrating the very latest case studies into classroom teaching, and by providing students with the critical and strategic thinking they need to compete and succeed.

Faculty members bring their unsurpassed expertise to the classroom and have served in some of the largest and most prestigious PR and media companies and organizations around the globe. Graduates go on to hold top-level positions at agencies such as Edelman, Ogilvy, Publicis Groupe, BCW Global, and 360i/Dentsu. In addition, they are working at leading brands including Prada, Amazon, Bank of America, Deloitte, Procter & Gamble, and Sony.

The NYU SPS MS in Public Relations and Corporate Communication is up against four other university-based programs for the PR Week Award in the area of Education. Winners in all categories of the PR Week Award will be announced on March 18, 2021 during the annual Awards ceremony.
