The MS in Project Management recently received accreditation from the PMI Global Accreditation Center (GAC) for Project Management Education Programs.
Why is this recognition so important for our program? It is a noteworthy accomplishment, which confirms that the MS in Project Management degree program has been carefully assessed and that its scale, scope, and academic quality conform to comprehensive international accreditation standards, providing those who complete this degree with a graduate credential of the highest order. GAC accreditation is a testament that the NYUSPS MS in Project Management demonstrates: a commitment to academic quality and excellence, meets global accreditation standards, and prepares students to enter the workforce.
In addition, the GAC Directors commended and recognized the MS in Project Management for being “Notable” in standard D.2: Curricula and Core Areas of Focus for Program Learning Outcomes, indicating exemplary practice in the field.
MS in Project Management students eligible to sit for a PMI credential exam may immediately apply the classroom hours from a completed project management course toward the contact hour requirement, rather than waiting until they graduate from the program. The student can be confident that these hours are pre-approved, and will automatically be accepted toward fulfilling the contact hour requirement. Students who wish to claim contact hours should select “GAC Accredited Programs” as the education provider when completing the PMI credential application.
The MS in Project Management is now able to issue PDUs to students who complete any individual registered project management course within the accredited degree program. The PMI credential holder can be confident that these PDUs are pre-approved, and will automatically be accepted toward fulfilling the PMI continuing certification requirement. Students should claim these PDUs under “Category A – Courses Offered by PMI’s R.E.P.s, GAC Accredited Degree Programs, chapters and communities.”
MS in Project Management students may qualify for student scholarships, which are available through the Educational Foundation of the Project Management Institute.
