DEGREE/CURRICULUM STRUCTURE

Degree Core Requirements

The core curriculum is designed to provide you with a deep and broad foundation that supports concentration course work and serves you throughout your career. Students are required to take all of the following courses.

Core Curriculum: Tier I

Tier I courses lay the groundwork for understanding the basic underpinnings of the building industry, including such topics as understanding methods and materials, construction practices, as well as legal principles and contracts common to the construction industry, company expenses, cost control, and cash flow. Students are required to take all of the following courses.

Core Curriculum: Tier II

Tier II courses build upon the foundation laid in the first tier, examining the various approaches to quantifying and estimating specific project plans, the process of tracking and managing projects, learning the criteria for managing a safe construction site, as well as developing the project skills for planning, scheduling, and control Students are required to take all of the following courses.

Core Curriculum: Tier III

Students are required to take all of the following courses. In Tier III,the emphasis is on the detailed tools and techniques for running a construction organization, while also acquiring the skills and the approaches needed for dispute resolution.

Capstone

The capstone course encompasses and applies all prior course work, and requires the production of a professional-quality project analysis from initiation to completion. In each case, actual industry data and resources are researched and employed in the creation of a project. Students are required to take the following course.
