With almost 40 years of experience as a linguist in the broadest range of areas, Tamar Paltrow brings unique perspective to interpreting and translation. As an interpreter, Tamar has worked in everything from military court martials and nuclear laboratories to hair design and medical conferences. As a translator, she has handled huge projects in pharmaceuticals, patents, engineering, judicial, and even menus. During COVID, Tamar was involved in pro bono translating international scientific documents and is on the team at Crisis Translation helping, pro bono, refugees around the world. When not working, though that almost never happens, she remains steadfastly involved in her Jewish community, serving as President of the Synagogue Board for 2 terms and guiding older Girl Scouts to the World Center in Switzerland every other year. Tamar is honored and humbled to be part of NYU ensuring that the next generation of linguists continue bridging communication across cultures.
