Guy Metcalfe is a managing director of Morgan Stanley and global chairman of real estate. He has led Morgan Stanley’s real estate investment banking business for two decades. Metcalfe joined Morgan Stanley in 1990 as a financial analyst in the M&A Department and worked in corporate finance in Toronto and Los Angeles before returning to New York as generalist associate in 1994. He joined the Real Estate Group (principal investing, investment banking and the integrated Real Estate lending) in 1996. He was named managing director in 2002. Metcalfe became US Real Estate Banking Head in 2002, global head in 2006, and global chairman in 2013. He has advised clients on over $600 billion of transactions at Morgan Stanley and is a trusted advisor to the CEOs of many of the world’s leading property companies.
Metcalfe earned an Honors BA in Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario in 1990. Among other professional affiliations, he has been an advisor on real estate matters to the Partnership Fund of New York. He is also a Trustee of St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s School on New York’s Upper West Side and is on the Board of Directors of the Child Mind Institute, the country’s leading organization and nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders.
