Two ELI Instructors to Present at the 2021 NYC ABE/ESOL Conference

We are excited to share the news that two of our ELI instructors, Mary Ritter and Abby Mack, will be presenting at the NYC Adult Basic Education/English for Speakers of Other Languages (NYC ABE/ESOL) conference this year. The event will take place on Saturday, May 15th, from 10 AM to 3 PM (EST).

The title of their presentation is Editing Easier: Storyboarding as a Vital Part of the Writing Process, briefly described below:

Revision is one of the most important parts of the writing process, but English language learners often have difficulty processing feedback and revising successfully, in part because they may not perceive the flexibility of a draft and their freedom to make organizational changes.

In this interactive session, participants will create stories and compare two different editing processes, one with and one without a storyboard. They will then analyze their experience of editing and discuss strategies and online resources for storytelling projects. Participants will discover how fun, flexible, and useful storyboarding is, empowering them to add storyboarding to the writing process.
