Established in 1945, the English Language Institute (ELI) provides the English language skills needed to communicate effectively in academic, professional, and social settings and to engage fully in our interconnected global society.

Collaborative for New Immigrant Education

  • 12-week Advanced Professional Communication course for asylees, asylum seekers, and resettled refugees
  • Support services outside of the language classroom
  • A community collaborative approach aimed at fostering leadership and development opportunities through collaborations at the University and within our New York City communities 

The ELI Fred Malkamese Scholarship

The Fred Malkamese Scholarship assists students who are experiencing financial hardship to study at the English Language Institute. We are accepting applications for the 2021-2022 academic year. For more information, contact us at eli@nyu.edu or apply below.
