DPB Welcomes New Faculty Members

Please join Martin Ihrig, associate dean, and Negar Farakish, assistant dean of the NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business (DPB), in welcoming ten new full-time DPB faculty members.

In addition to the new faculty below, we celebrate new program responsibilities for a few long-time and accomplished DPB faculty members, including:

  • Anna Tavis will serve as the new Chair of DPB’s Human Capital Management (HCM) Department
  • Michael Valentine assumes the role of Academic Director for HCM
  • Woody Woodward has been named Faculty Director of DPB’s Coaching Innovation Lab
Kathleen Rennie

Kathleen Rennie, PhD, APR, Fellow PRSA, serves as the Chair of DPB's Integrated Marketing and Communications department. Kathy served as Chair of the Marketing Department and Associate Professor in the NJCU School of Business for nine years. Prior to NJCU, Kathy led Seton Hall University’s undergraduate public relations education program for 20 years, advancing it to become one of the best public relations programs in the region.

Steven Goss, EdD, serves as the Chair of DPB's Management and Technology department. Prior to joining NYU SPS, he served as Dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Manhattan College, where he was responsible for adult learning, professional studies, and online education. Before Manhattan College, Steve led several successful online initiatives at Teachers College, Columbia University, Bank Street College of Graduate Education, and New York University, including establishing The Center for Faculty Innovations in Teaching and Learning at NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

Stephanie Mattera

Stephanie Mattera serves as the Academic Director and Clinical Assistant Professor for the Public Relations and Corporate Communication (PRCC) program. She has been associated with the PRCC Master’s for more than ten years. Before moving into academia, Stephanie's corporate career spanned over a decade in roles at global lifestyle brands, including Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Alex and Ani, Ralph Lauren, Glamour Magazine, and Macy's.

Jose Mendoza, PhD, serves as the Academic Director and Clinical Assistant Professor for the Integrated Marketing (IM) program. He joins NYU SPS after serving as an Associate Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona. Jose focuses on consumer pricing, retail technologies, artificial intelligence marketing, data science for business, and consumer neuroscience. Previously, he held appointments as an Assistant Professor of Practice and Academic Director for the Master of Science in Digital Marketing at Sacred Heart University. He has also been a senior marketing executive with over 20 years of experience in global marketing with brands such as Absolut, Chivas Regal, Malibu, Kahlúa, The Glenlivet, Stolichnaya, Hewlett-Packard, and Tampico.

McKenna Schray

McKenna Schray, PhD, APR, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in DPB's Integrated Marketing and Communications department. Prior to joining NYU, she held positions as an Instructor of Public Relations at Seton Hall University and as an Adjunct Instructor at Caldwell University and Seton Hall University. Before assuming her teaching positions, McKenna was an Associate Director for the College of Communication and the Arts and a Graduate Assistant for the Office of Media Relations at Seton Hall University. Her early career includes professional experiences at Shoba, Scholastic, Coyne PR, MTV, and Comedy Central. 

Kathryn Metcalfe serves as Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor in DPB's Integrated Marketing and Communications department. She left her most recent role as Chief Communications Officer at CVS Health for academia, to influence and shape the next generation of marketing and communications leaders. She has diverse experience across communications, reputation management, crisis and issues management, as well as government affairs, marketing and M&A. Her corporate career includes positions as Chief Communications Officer at Deloitte, Aetna, and CVS Health, as well as VP positions at the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation and Pfizer.

Tariq Khan

Tariq Khan serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in DPB's Integrated Marketing and Communications department. He is a published author, global sought-after keynote speaker and a recognized business leader. Tariq has had a distinguished twenty-year corporate career and has held senior leadership roles at major global Fortune companies, including ING, Nationwide, and MetLife. In 2010, Tariq founded Global Diversity Marketing (GDM), a leading management consulting firm that has helped global Fortune companies and coached C-Suite leaders to adapt and thrive in the changing environment.

Mary Cianni, PhD, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in DPB's Human Capital Management department. In 2020, Mary joined the NYU Adjunct Faculty from Korn Ferry where she was a Senior Client Partner and Global Leader of the Integrated Transformation Solutions. Previously, Mary spent 18 years at Willis Towers Watson serving in a variety of leadership roles including Global Leader, Mergers & Acquisitions and Northeast Leader, Change Implementation. In her consulting roles, Mary worked with clients across industries on transforming their cultures and workplaces. 

Mary Cianni
Matthew Diabes

Matthew Diabes, PhD, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in DPB's Human Capital Management department. He has taught courses in Organizational Behavior and Negotiations and Conflict Resolution at Carnegie Mellon University, where he received his PhD. in Organizational Behavior and Theory at the Tepper School of Business. He is currently the Chief Science and Innovation Officer for Lattitude, a startup developing HR and professional development technology. He has conducted research on collaboration, team communication and coordination processes, and conflict management in the financial services, healthcare, tech, and tech consulting sectors as well as with volunteers online and in laboratory settings.

Paul Meadows serves as Clinical Assistant Professor for Project Management in DPB's Management and Technology department. After a full career with the British Army working in Signals Intelligence, he held multiple senior leadership positions at JPMorgan and Lazard Asset Management, where he established the IT Project Management Office. He is passionate about project management education and the positive impact that well-structured, well-delivered teaching can have on both students and organizations.
