Division of Programs in Business Congratulates Dina Tate on 2021 NYU Martin Luther King, Jr. Faculty Award

The NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business (DPB) proudly congratulates Dina Tate, adjunct instructor of Integrated Marketing at DPB, as one of nine recipients of this year’s New York University Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Faculty Award. This award is sponsored by the Offices of the President and Provost, in partnership with the Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation. It recognizes outstanding faculty who exemplify the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through teaching excellence, leadership, social justice activism, and community building. In addition, these faculty make a positive impact within the classroom and in the greater NYU community. Current NYU students nominate faculty and recipients are chosen by a committee of past recipients and student leaders.

The 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Faculty Award was presented to honorees during a special ceremony on Tuesday, February 2, during NYU MLK Week (February 1–6). Winners of the award receive a $1,000 research stipend.

"Receiving the Martin Luther King, Jr. Faculty Award has been the highlight of my academic career," said Tate. "Being recognized for the embodiment of what Dr. King represents is something that I don't take lightly. It is important for me to enhance the students’ learning experience and bridge the gaps to better understand one another. I see challenges within our society; the point is how we move within those spaces. Having my students work with African American-owned small businesses has been an important mission for me. It makes me feel so proud to see the evolution of both the students and the business owners as they reach a new level of cultural understanding, along with a new way forward for their business. Participating in many workshops with NYU has helped me become a better instructor, and for that I am grateful. It’s an honor to be a recipient with a great group of instructors doing amazing things."
