Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies

Mission

We welcome returning, transfer, adult, and other students who may have delayed starting college or look to complete their degree. Anchored in the liberal arts, our degrees span the humanities, social sciences, and a variety of professional fields.

Convenient and Flexible

Our evening and online courses, and full- and part-time study options, help students balance their studies with personal and work obligations. We offer two 100% online Bachelor’s degrees and students can choose from a variety of online courses each semester regardless of their program.

Credit for Prior Learning

Already earned some college credit? It may be applicable toward the degree you pursue at DAUS. Credit for prior learning also is reviewed by the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning and may decrease your time to graduation. AP, CLEP, and other exams can earn you credit toward your degree.

Advising & Career Development

We care about you and what motivated you to complete your degree. We’ll help you to navigate obstacles that can impact your studies, answer questions, and address concerns. Academic advisers, faculty and staff members, career coaches, and tutors, are always available to help you along the way.

FLEXIBILITY FOR FALL 2020

Post-traditional students who will be applying to the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies can study in New York City OR enroll in a degree that is offered online OR if unable to attend in-person in NYC in the fall, begin their degree remotely and join us on campus in Spring 2021.

Note: Certain restrictions and requirements may apply for international students.

Associate Degrees

For tuition that compares to what you would pay at your local community college, students who have earned less than 45 transferable college credits begin their studies by enrolling in one of our four associate degree programs. From there, they can seamlessly transfer to one of our bachelor's degree programs.

Bachelor's Degrees

If you already have earned your associate degree or have the equivalent of 45 or more transferable college credits, you can complete your bachelor's degree in a broad range of areas. Students transferring from a community college may be eligible for a Community College Transfer Opportunity Program (CCTOP) scholarship.

Refer a Future DAUS Student

There are so many talented adults for whom a college degree is the next step to a professional breakthrough or personal goal. DAUS is made stronger because of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our students who come from all over NYC, the United States, and the world. Please tell us about someone who has impressed you with their motivation, hard work, and ambition to earn a college degree. Message from the Associate Dean
Billie Gastic Rosado

Our Division is special because of its unique mission—to serve adults and other post-traditional students with a way to pursue their degree at NYU, a global urban university, while also balancing work, family and other personal obligations. Our students are from all over the world and join us at different stages of their life: some transfer from a community college or another 4-year program, others enroll after a delay or interruption in their pursuit of a degree.

I encourage you to envision yourself as a member of our vibrant and diverse community. I look forward to welcoming you as a new student.
