Having a family at an early age, I had little time for my education. However, NYU SPS made it easier to obtain my undergraduate degree and then work on earning my master’s.” This year, he also will celebrate the graduations of his wife, Yaridis, and their son, Oscar Rimolo III, who also earned degrees from NYU SPS over the last two years.

Yaridis Rimolo, a first-generation college graduate who works as a senior teller/customer service assistant in the NYU Bursar’s Office, completed a BA in Social Sciences with a concentration in Organizational Behavior and Change from the NYU SPS Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) in Fall 2021, and will walk during the 2022 Undergraduate Convocation ceremony on May 20. Before working toward this degree, she earned an NYU SPS Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from DAUS in 2016.

“The diversity of the student body and the faculty is what attracted me to NYU SPS. Both made my educational experience so rewarding,” she noted. “I have always been fascinated by individual and organizational behavior. After earning my associate degree, I was motivated to further pursue my interest in organizational behavior by earning a bachelor’s degree from NYU SPS. My son, Oscar, shares this interest as well!”

Oscar Rimolo III, who earned a BA in Social Sciences with a concentration in Organizational Behavior and Change in 2020 from DAUS—the same degree as his mother—always knew that he wanted to attend NYU. He currently works in the insurance industry and hopes to earn a master’s degree at NYU SPS to prepare him for a career in human resources. He will walk during the special Convocation ceremony for 2020/2021 graduates who were unable to attend their graduation in person due to pandemic restrictions.

Rimolo family members all agreed that the professors at NYU SPS constantly challenged and motivated them to be better. They took a personal interest in their work and shared advice and insights that they continue to use in their daily lives and work. In addition to these three highly accomplished individuals, a fourth member of the family, Chastidy Rimolo, also graduated from NYU SPS, earning a BS in Digital Communications and Media (DCoM) with a minor in interactive web and mobile technologies, from NYU SPS DAUS in 2017.

“Attending NYU SPS simultaneously with both of my parents was cool and comforting, and having my sister Chastidy also there for help was highly reassuring,” noted Oscar Rimolo III. “My whole experience at the School—from interacting with other students to engaging with the professors—has been great, but having my family so involved in my journey has made the NYU SPS experience even more special for all of us.”

Chastidy Rimolo commented, “I am so proud of my family members for committing to earn their degrees at NYU SPS, I’ll be cheering them on at the convocation ceremonies.”

All family members also plan to be part of the NYU Commencement exercises, which will be held at Yankee Stadium on May 18.
