Iris Tao has been chosen for the 2023 Academic Excellence Award from the NYU SPS MS in Translation and Interpreting (MSTI) program.
While pursuing her translation and interpreting degree, Iris worked full-time as a political reporter and broadcast interpreter. In addition to her thesis work in translating journalism, Iris undertook a substantial project in climate change for the course in Translating and Interpreting for Intergovernmental Organizations. Her combined dedication to her career and ability to succeed academically was what made her stand out among her colleagues. Bin Liu, her thesis advisor, shares: “Iris is always eager to learn and acquire the craftsmanship both in theory and in practice. She is constantly challenging herself with hard choices and more demanding goals. The distinctive quality of pushing herself all the time is what makes her outstanding in all the works she's accomplished.”
